I don't know how many people get to make their living in their dream job, but I do know that I'm one. I have been interested in the history of the United States for as long as I can remember. Being able to teach that subject to the incredible students at Fort Settlement is literally a dream come true.
I received my undergraduate degree from Houston Baptist University in 1979, and my teacher's certification from the University of Houston in 1987.
I am beginning my 27th year in FBISD. My first 14 years were at First Colony Middle School, where I taught Physical Education, Life Science, Texas History and United States History. During my tenure there, I also coached football, basketball, track and tennis. In 2001, I moved to Sartartia Middle School, where I spent four years. I am now in my eighth year here at FSMS. Along with my duties as a history teacher, I also coach 7th grade football and boys' track.
My wife Maribeth retired four years ago from Fort Bend and is keeping busy caring for two of our four grandchildren. We love spending time with our children and grandchildren, as well as traveling, fishing and working in our garden.
